At Root & Twig, we delight in sharing treasures that honor both childhood and nature—and Wooden Story is one of our dearest finds.

This family has been crafting toys in the Beskidy Mountains of Poland for three generations. Their grandfather, Borowy, believed with all his heart that the forest gives joy, and in 1969 the very first Wooden Story toys were born from that love of wood and play.

Each piece feels as though it has come straight from the forest. Smoothed by hand, colored with natural eco-certified paints, and finished with beeswax and botanical oils, the toys still carry the gentle scent of wood and the whisper of wind through the trees.

We cherish Wooden Story because their philosophy mirrors our own: creating for children brings joy to adults as well. These toys are more than playthings—they are heirlooms, crafted out of love for nature and the wonder of childhood.
